HOW TO LAY NEW TILES ON AN OLD PAINTED STAIRCASE?

I have an old stone staircase that is pretty much ruined, which the previous owner painted with floor paint. What adhesive can I use to bond new tiles (32x32 tiles, special 1cm joints with round front edge)?

Federico
The action required to overlay porcelain stoneware, un klinker or any product on the painted staircase is to completely remove the paint, clean the bricks with caustic soda and rinse thoroughly. This way, it will be possible to remove any mould or moisture, because there is no adhesive that can be overlaid and still guarantee perfect bonding without this essential surface preparation.
Any good adhesive from Mapei/Kerakoll or other producers can be used that bonds well, similar to Keraflex Maxi or H40 Flex.
